The Prayer!

Image
Not been writing much and probably wont be posting much over the next couple of months, Just wanted to share a lovely song 'The Prayer' with you. Copied the lyrics from this site ! Its the prayer on my lips and my heart right now! I pray You'll be our eyes And watch us where we go And help us to be wise In times when we don't know Let this be our prayer When we lose our way Lead us to a place Guide us with Your grace To a place where we'll be safe I pray we'll find Your light  And hold it in our hearts When stars go out each night  Remind us where You are Let this be our prayer When shadows fill our day  Oh Lord, lead us to a place,  Guide us with Your grace  Give us faith so we'll be safe A world where pain and sorrow will be ended And every heart that's broken will be mended And we'll remember we are all God's children Reaching out to touch you, reaching to the sky We ask that life be kind And watch us

Pondering Mortality!

The deaths of my classmates have hit harder than I thought, I find myself laughing one minute and the next being weighed down by the heavy weight in my heart. How are their families and close friends reacting to the loss of their loved ones?  I almost rue my return to facebook for it was there I learnt the sad news! The wall posts, pictures and profile pages are filled with tributes, if only's, laments and celebrations of the lives of these dear ones. In a few weeks, the water works will dry up, the pain in our hearts won't cease but will become dull constant aches, a reminder that those who were once part of our lives have ceased to be. Like a colleague wrote, as we grow older we 'hurt deeper' and 'feel the hurt in places deeper than when we were younger'! What hurts most for me is that life goes on! I know its supposed to be a good thing, but when someone dear passes on, time should stand still but it doesn't..... it keeps on rolling by as if nothing of

Another star in the sky!

To all those grieving, I pray when morning comes, your sun will rise. For there are now more stars in the sky to help us find our way home.   Heard this evening of another classmate gone! Cannot even begin to fathom how her family must feel! Saw the tweet on twitter by Jazzberryrose and it gives a glimmer of hope and comfort!   O death where is they sting, O grave where is thy victory?   Her life was not in vain, her sojourn on earth was for a purpose! Rest in Peace dear one!

Luray Caverns!

Image
Visited the Luray Caves in Virginia last week! It was a lovely experience and shows again how tourism can be tapped! I went with family friends from Nigeria who talked of the Ogbunike caves in Arochukwu, Abia State in Eastern Nigeria. I wonder how much revenue is generated by visitors to the caves. The pictures I took do not do justice to the caverns. They were huge and made up of massive stalactites and stalagmites! They were a beauty to behold! I tried to record the tunes from the Stalacpipe Organ which is the world's largest musical instrument but it was not as clear as it sounded. Enjoy the pictures and visit the websites linked above! A side view of the Garden Maze! It was too hot to look for any treasures in the maze, spent 5minutes and gave up, no one wanted to get lost under the hot sun:) A view of the parking lot and the hills! Despite the warnings, many people still touched the formations! Stalactites! Hold tight:) A clue to remembering what the

Music

Music does something to a body! Call it soul lifting, doubt dispelling, comforting, soothing, whatever you wish, music does something. Its a gift from God  I believe. I do not consider myself a music lover and I do not have any favorite songs But once in a while when the doubts assail or gloom pervades my little corner Like David's harp consoled Saul, when the music plays the gloomy thoughts dissipate The sun that seems to have hidden behind a dark cloud shines brighter than ever My head that may have started to hang a little lower is suddenly lifted up And I can face the world with the strength of Samson, God help those who try to stand in my way:)

New York Again!

Image
When I put up my first picture post on my trip to New York, I did not think I would be in New York so soon! But I went to NY on friday, left by train early in the morning and came back late at night thanks to an all expense paid trip by a family friend:) It was a lovely experience apart from the fact that I lost my debit card and had to visit the bank to cancel it. I lost one hour of sightseeing time looking for my dropped card and replacing it! We started off at South Ferry Port purchasing tickets to go to Liberty Island and Ellis Islands, then we took the train to a station close to the WTC to visit the 9/11 memorial. Then we walked to the Brooklyn bridge and walked over it, then to China Town and Wall street by taxi to visit the 'Bull':) Then back to 34th street area and then to Penn Station to take the train back home. I got home at 2am and slept in for most of the next day, I was exhausted, my pedometer showed I took 22,048 steps and burnt 945 calories:) Anyway enj
