3 wishes!
A spotted hyena at the Kenya Wildlife park! |
Read a children's fairy tale a few days ago about a man who had 3 wishes granted to him and he could ask for anything he truly wanted. Like all the tales of being granted wishes (or a blank cheque if you please) go, he asked for a big kingdom, wealth and a great army and left out what was most important to him!
Eventually he came to his senses and realized that what he really wanted or needed was love! This story is unique because when he did realize his folly, and asked for the love of the young fairy who was granting him the wishes, his previous 3 wishes were undone and he had what it was he really wanted.
How many times are we given wishes and we mess them up?, how many times are we given a second chance to undo our foolish choices? How many times do we ask for what we really need and not what our selfish natures desire?
I love the idea of 3 wishes, but I would like to think I have been given more than just 3 wishes in my lifetime. All the blessings of God I have never asked for but received are worth more than what 3 wishes could give- the love and devotion of a family, good health, great friends, and many more things that I cannot even begin to count.
Do I take these blessings for granted or do I love and cherish and appreciate them? I hope I do!
