Pondering Mortality!

The deaths of my classmates have hit harder than I thought, I find myself laughing one minute and the next being weighed down by the heavy weight in my heart. How are their families and close friends reacting to the loss of their loved ones?  I almost rue my return to facebook for it was there I learnt the sad news! The wall posts, pictures and profile pages are filled with tributes, if only's, laments and celebrations of the lives of these dear ones.

In a few weeks, the water works will dry up, the pain in our hearts won't cease but will become dull constant aches, a reminder that those who were once part of our lives have ceased to be. Like a colleague wrote, as we grow older we 'hurt deeper' and 'feel the hurt in places deeper than when we were younger'! What hurts most for me is that life goes on! I know its supposed to be a good thing, but when someone dear passes on, time should stand still but it doesn't..... it keeps on rolling by as if nothing of significance has happened.

Death......

.....It is part of life, its a new beginning, its the dawn of eternity....yes for those who have gone ahead it is, but for those of us who are left behind, who cannot see ahead, we are bogged down by the trunk of flesh our spirits are trapped in

Death.....

...it is so final, so abrupt, so definite. We cannot hear the cheers of the witnesses in the heavens above cheering us on on a path that is weary and filled with distractions, our eyes look downward instead of upward, we remember the pain and toil instead of forgetting and replacing it with joyful expectancy! We take part in plots that were not written for us, we become actors on the stage of another. We forget the urgency in our life's assignments and sit down to become drunk on the brew that causes amnesia!

Life....

.....Should be filled with all that is clear and pure and bright
..........should be a song that runs through us making our feet beat in time to its joyful cadence
...............should be a reminder that we are here for a while and this life is but a shadow
....................begins when our earthly sojourn comes to an end!

death is sad - very sad.. we remember the void the people that have died have left in our hearts... may their soul rest in peace.
