Japan!

Image
I was in Japan about two weeks ago and I had a delightful time I tell you. It was the best week I have spent so far. I had loads of food to eat and lots of new sights to see thanks to the Japanese student Organization who made the trip possible. Ill first start with a full disclosure that most of the meals on the trip and some of the transportation and all the accomodation was provided for by them. So if this turns out to be a Praise report you can tell why:) It is difficult to state that there were some parts of the trip I did not like. I would be lying if I did say there were. Having said that, there were very many things about the trip that I did like. Several people have asked me to describe Japan in one word and the word I came up with was CLEAN. Everywhere is so clean, the trains I rode on where squeaky clean you could almost see the reflection of your face on the polished floors:) I exaggerate of course but in truth its the cleanest place I have ever been to. They pay great atte...

Thankful Monday!

Its disgraceful that I have not put up a thankful post in weeks and Ill confess I have not exactly been feeling thankful. But nothing changes an ungrateful heart like giving thanks so here goes: 26.I am thankful I am still alive to give thanks. 27.I am thankful for the rain and though I wish for warmer and drier weather I am thankful it is raining. 28.I am thankful that though I cant tell what tomorrow may bring my way I am not overly anxious about anything. 29.I am thankful for Journey mercies, I recently travelled about 26hours all told by air, over land and water,I arrived home safe and sound. 30.I am thankful for new friends who have been a delight in so many ways and grateful for old friends who remember me from time to time! 31.I am thankful for the wonders of technology and truly grateful that I do not wait months to receive mail from home like in ages past, I am grateful that I can speak on an almost daily basis with anyone I choose to. 32.I am thankful for the peace that fills...

Bitten by the wandering bug!

My sister reminded me a few days ago about words I had uttered when I was a child! The words are 'I will travel the world'. To the best of my knowledge I cant remember when I said that but I do remember that in my year book I answered the question "What next after Medical School?" with 'A trip around the world'. My love of National Geographic magazines also did nothing to stifle the urge to see for myself, the panoramic views of crystal clear skies or blue seas or mountain ranges and the dwelling places of men folk all over the world on the pages of this great read. Unlike many of my classmates, marriage and its attendant responsibilities were not my next steps. I probably imagined that I would be hard pressed to find a husband who would put up with a wife who wanted to explore all the continents on earth at the cost of leaving his supper uncooked:)) Anyway I still have not overcome this travel bug and the desire to travel grows by the day. People ask me what ...

Things you do when you are tired...

1. Fall asleep right in front of the lecturer and cannot do anything about it. 2. Tap your school ID on the Public transport sensor and wonder why you cant pass through the barriers. 3. Forget the names of people you see everyday! 4. Take part in a discussion and wonder why no one seems to be understanding what you are saying. 5. Dream about a soft bed and wake up startled to find that the soft bed is the shoulder of a stranger on the train. 6. Can't think of a good response to a straightforward question. 7. Sleep through an event you looked forward to! 8. Ask for directions on a street you pass through frequently. 9. Force your feet into your shoes and realize after several futile attempts that you are putting your feet into someone elses shoes! 10. Get irritated by the slightest delay, all you want to do is to get home to bed! I have done a few of the above and I can tell you it was quite embarrasing, the secret is to go sleep! Seeing that most of the points above are related to ...

I know its Tuesday but I probably had a very good reason to miss writing yesterday for this morning I woke up to the most delightful news. So this Mondays praise or thankful note is just this: I am thanking God for GOOD NEWS . Anyone wanting details will get them in a later post maybe but Join me in thanking God the giver of life and health who delights in the praises of His children!:) Psalm 150 is the song in my heart right now!

Words and Opposites!

1. I hear the hum of the refrigerator cease for a second or two my first thoughts are NEPA has struck again until I suddenly remember that in the land of the free there is no such thing as NEPA. 2. I hear the scampering of an animal on the ceiling above, my first thoughts RATS! Then I remember in this land where there is no 'gbogbo the rat', the sounds above are made by my neighbours cat! 3. I hear the hum of a bike on the road as I walk down the street, instinctively I step aside then remember that in this land where traffic lights are actually obeyed, the Okada man is non existent. 4. I ask if a book is on sale at the cooperative store, I get a look of bewilderment and an explanation that there are no sales on any items here, I forget that I ask my question in Nigerian english Is this book for sale? and promptly change it to speech decipherable by the American sales person 'Do you happen to be selling this book? 5.I repeatedly bring home the wrong item at the local superm...

Another Missed Monday!

Hmm I seem to be missing the mondays quickly, typically human isnt it? when I want something I do not forget but the act of giving thanks is quickly forgotten and overcome by the hustle and bustle of the days activities. Here goes, I am thankful for the following. 21.Thankful for good news from home. Like water to a weary traveller are good tidings from a distant land. 22.Thankful for opportunities that are like the icing on a cake. 23.Thankful that I am able to subscribe and receive my favorite magazine every month- National Geographic! 24.Thankful for peace in the midst of the storm. 25.Thankful for being able to sleep soundly every night.
